Focus is the Nordic region and continental Europe. Solam´s market share is roughly 10% of modified starches used in the paper industry in Europe.
Solam GmbH and Solam AB were founded in 2010 as a joint venture between Emsland Stärke GmbH and Lyckeby Starch AB. Lyckeby Starch AB took over the ownership of both Solam GmbH and Solam AB in July 2017. Emsland Group continues as a major cooperation partner for Solam. Solam AB was integrated in Lyckeby Starch AB in September 2018, the operations are carried out by the business unit Solam. Lyckeby Starch AB was mergered into Sveriges Stärkelseproducenter, förening u.p.a in November 2019.

Our application team carefully creates studies and tests to identify products that make your processes perform optimally. This allows us to provide an individual, customized service that transforms your challenges into optimal product solutions. Our all-in-one service is designed to be an extension of your business.
Solam has an application lab in Kristianstad in southern Sweden. Here we perform application work and studies such as starch adsorption, sheet forming including strength evaluation, surfaces sizing and coating including rheology measurements. Apart from that, we also perform wet end analysis including starch measurements to secure a good performance of our wet end starches at the paper and board mills.
